Intestate Laws

Intestacy is when a person dies without having made a valid will or other binding declaration.  Without a will in place, the deceased person’s estate will pass and be distributed according to Indiana’s laws governing intestate succession.  Indiana Code 29-1-2-1 governs how a person’s estate will be passed if he/she doesn’t have a will.  To view this statute, please click here.
